Well... It took some effort (turns out that it was my VPN that made things harder than they needed to be)...
But... I have been able to support :drinky: our cult master :bb:
It wasn't much, and I could only do it for once (for now).
But I am glad to finally be able to support the instance again, seeing I use it a lot!

Mastodon is free, but in the end, it costs money. Your instance doesn't earn anything, as there are no ads for them to get revenue of.

Most of the instances have donation option(s) listed in their info/about page.

I don't do this enough, which I hate, but I know how important it is.

If you can, please support your instance as well. It helps to keep our Fedi :fedi: ads free and it helps the admin(s) to keep things up and running.

If you can. Please run your own instance. #selfhosting makes the world a better place little by little. Consider something other than #Mastodon - #Friendica or #gotosocial maybe

At this moment, I use instances hosted by others, as I don't have the funds/spoons/means/knowledge to have my own... Would be cool though 😇 I am trying out a Friendica site, joined one but it was rather unstable, so have joined another one to give it a try.
I wish I were more tech savvy (and richer) as an own instance sounds super cool. But I'm *very* pleased with the Beige :bb: accounts and the admin does superb work (plus he gives us so many characters and emojis).

Friendica is totally hostable on something like a #RaspberryPi 5 and you can install it with a few clicks using something like #Yunohost - Probably less than $/€/£100.

Agree but you can subscribe and engage with lemmy communities from Friendica - I'm interested in the connectivity of Friendica (RSS , plugins etc ) ..
