This isn't your normal "looking for work" post.
I've decided to shut my business and do more volunteer / community work.
If you know of an organisation which could use a board member with strong digital skills, extensive experience in open source and open standards, or cybersecurity please let me know.
Nothing full time. Personal recommendations preferred. Feel free to share.

in reply to Terence Eden • • •while far less glamorous than "board member" I've done similarly on occasion, engaging with a couple non-profits in a generic IT capacity for mundane stuff like cleaning up duplicate records in databases, creating new reports, etc. Things that would cost them hundreds or thousands of dollars to hire someone to do, so they just put up with the pain. It could just be running cable or making sure that backups happen & restores can happen. Most places don't need more bureaucratic roles filled, just boots-on-the-ground help.
That said, you'll find the most fulfillment if the org is one that does something important to you. For us, that's usually local orgs that help with social issues.

DTF, Democratic Tech Fund. A member-based federation working on the transition towards digital autonomy and collective funding of democratic tech initiatives.
We focus on social capacity building, not just the tech. If that's what you're into, I'm happy to invite you in.
