Do Australians still carry physical credit cards? I used to use Google Pay when you could make small transactions without unlocking, but it seems easier to use the card now.

I keep mine in the car as a backup, just in case my phone goes tits up.

Also for use in drive-throughs. I don't want to risk dropping my phone tapping it on the terminal out the car window.

@tj Seems sensible. There was a period where cops were fining people for paying with their phones in drive-throughs too. I realise now I don't use my card much at all. I buy discounted gift cards for groceries online and use them in store, and most drive-throughs I've already paid in app.

Question: In #Australia do you pay a premium to pay by #contactless like in #newzealand - When in New Zealand I realised that making the effort to push my card into the card reader regularly saved me money as it allowed the merchant to use the #eftpos rather than #visa #mastercard networks

The Boxing Kangaroo reshared this.

@abeorch I know that works in ALDI but generally there isn't a fee for large companies but I think coffee shops do it. From memory, the government is trying to get rid of credit card surcharges because some businesses are taking advantage of it.
