I know this isnt useful but #mozilla is I think a good example of the lack of accountability between them and its users.
The need for democratic systems that have actual accountability are so often forgotten by tech-altruists and enthusiasts. rather than self selecting, self perpetuating boards that appoint their own members.
This cutural tradition of members appointing boards is something that more opensource projects need to discover. A #benevolatdictator never works in the long term even if theynare a group.
TL;DR: On the November 2025 Mozilla Support Community call, Mozilla provided updates on the disbandment of Japanese SUMO over AI, calling it a “miscommunication” and “misinterpretation”.
If you knew that you could get voted off the board because users and contributors dont like what you have spent the money on then you are accoutable to users and contributors.
Foundation directors are only accoutable to themselves.
