So tell me cycling people of these parts: is there an open source cycling tracker-type tool anywhere (an alternative to the likes of Strava, MapMyRun, etc.?).

I know Open Street Map exists, but don't know if it's something you can use in these cases? (Need involvement a device's accelerometer, GPS, etc.)

Also paging followers of #Rothar and #BikeTooter.

@abeorch @fdroidorg @fdroid @openstreetmap Oh thank you for the community link! And yes, irony aside, I'm on iOS these days (but I'm considering a Fairphone when the time comes to replace this one, so I think that is Android).

I hope i didn't sound like i was judging - I use a chinese android phone full of stock apps that are probably leaking my data - But i also really didnt answer your question. I got sidetracked (pardon the pun) - I meant t say that one option was #nexttracks codeberg.org/nexttracks/androi… but it looks like has fallen into abayance.

@abeorch @abeorch @fdroidorg @openstreetmap @fdroid Not at all, it's okay! (It just reminded me that I've been meaning to get a Fairphone for a while now, but first I need to wait for my current phone to really fall over before I switch!)

Oh thank you for this recommendation, too - it's a pity that it hasn't been updated, but I'll keep an eye, just in case it gets going again.

@abeorch Ooh, thanks a million for these links! It looks like there's plenty to explore, which it's great news. Much obliged!

You kind of made me rediscover the topic. I'm having a do nothing day so its been nice to go looking a bit.

@abeorch @abeorch Ah that's fab, a nice bit of serendipity! I can't remember my last do nothing day, but next month should give me some opportunities to dig into all this properly. Looking forward to it!
